Episode #415 "Tornado Prom"

SYNOPSIS:

Kelso and Jackie have been campaigning for Snow King and Queen of the upcoming prom. Jackie says she’s always been rich and popular, but since her dad cut off the money, she now has to be twice as popular. Donna says maybe Jackie should worry about being friendly, thoughtful and considerate. Donna suggests that she, Eric, Hyde and Fez all go to the prom together. The next night the guys arrive at the gymnasium, and Eric realizes that they forgot Donna. Coach Ferguson walks up to Hyde and has a few sarcastic remarks. When he leaves, Hyde decides the time is right to go “fumigate” the coach’s office. Kelso and Jackie learn that Kelso has been elected Snow King, while Jackie is merely a runner-up. Jackie’s devastated. The vice principal announces that a code red tornado warning is now in effect. Kelso says that as Snow King, he has to lead his people to safety. Eric, unaware of the tornado warning, heads to the radio station in the Vista Cruiser to pick up Donna. Hyde sneaks into the coach’s office, but just as he’s ready to light up, the coach turns on the lights; Hyde’s busted. In the stairwell, Rhonda tells Fez that he isn’t going to die a virgin if she has anything to do with him. She throws herself in his arms. At the radio station, Donna’s impressed that Eric risked the tornado for her. The power suddenly goes off, and Eric says he doesn’t want to die. But he’s not too scared to suggest that maybe they should have sex. Nothing doing, says Donna. The coach is telling Hyde that he’s in big trouble just as Kelso bursts in with Jackie in tow. The coach freaks out when he hears about the tornado. He can’t die yet; there’s so much he hasn’t experienced. Hyde bets he knows one thing the coach hasn’t experienced. A “360” follows with Kelso, Hyde Jackie and Coach Ferguson. Jackie can’t understand why she wasn’t voted Snow Queen. She was nice to everybody these last two weeks. Maybe Donna was right, she muses. Maybe being popular isn’t more important than being nice to people. Eric and Donna are having fun at the station “hanging out” with cardboard cut-outs of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. Donna observes that the station manager’s stuff is way better than theirs. Jackie has a Wizard of Oz fantasy that features all the gang as characters from the movie. Jackie encounters a female Wizard and asks if being nice is more important than being popular. The Wizard assures her that popularity and titles are the most important things of all, and if someone accuses her of being shallow, then they’re just jealous. Jackie thinks the Wizard is brilliant. Fez and Rhonda are still in the stairwell when word comes that the tornado has passed over Point Place. Now, Fez’s dismay, sex doesn’t seem important to Rhonda; she wants to celebrate with everyone. Jackie tells everyone she had a great dream and hurries off to start campaigning for next year. And Eric confesses to Donna that he wasn’t brave at all; he came to the station because he’d forgotten to pick her up for the prom.
