Episode #507 "Hot Dog"

Eric's thrilled with Donna tells her dad that she's going to college where Eric goes. Kitty's menopause is giving her huge mood swings. Red, at wits end, brings her a puppy to cheer her up. Eric tells the gang that he wants to get Donna a really special present to show her how much he loves her. Schotzie, the dachshund puppy, soon has the run of the Forman house. Bob tells Red that a better choice for a cheering up gift would have been a banjo. Eric goes to a jewelry store and leaves with a beautiful diamond engagement ring for Donna. Eric's proud and happy, but the gang is quick to deflate him. They all agree that getting engaged is stupid and will only lead to grief. Eric says that he and Donna are going to be together forever anyway, so why not make it official? Red and Kitty urge Eric to think less about Donna and more about college and a career. The gang continues to try to convince Eric to forget about getting engaged, but Eric's already made a special date to meet Donna at the water tower. What's he going to do when he gets there? At the water tower, Donna's freezing and wants to know what they're doing there. Eric stonewalls a bit but finally shows Donna the ring and says he had planned to give it to her. Stupid, right? But Donna surprises him and says she wants to keep the ring. They're engaged! But they agree to keep it a secret for a while. Her dad, says Donna, would kill Eric if he found out.
