Episode #511 "The Girl I Love"

Eric tells the guys that he had the worst date ever with Donna when she insisted they go to the arboretum and watch a film strip after they got there. Fez tells Nina that his friends don't believe that she's his girlfriend. Nina observes that she doesn't think they're quite there yet. She needs to know him better, to meet his friends. When Kitty learns that Fez wants to introduce Nina to everyone, she offers to throw a formal dinner party. Eric says he's busy, but Donna assures Kitty they'll both be there. Jackie's furious when Hyde says there's no way he's attending. Jackie's his girlfriend now, and she should be able to speak for him! Eric chimes in that if Donna wants to go to a dinner party, or the arboretum, they go. Hyde points out that Eric's engaged which means screwed for life. Eric knows Hyde's right, and it's extortion. Red is also unhappy about the dinner, because he'll have to miss "Challenge of the Network Stars." Kelso wonders why he's not invited, but Kitty explains the party's for couples. If he'll bring a date, he's invited. When Jackie orders Hyde to come to the party with her, and Hyde sticks to his guns, Kelso volunteers to be Jackie's date, and she accepts. The gang plus Nina and minus Hyde are in their best clothes and assembled, with Red and Kitty, in the Forman living room playing a game. Hyde comes in wearing a tie. Jackie assumes he's caved in, but Hyde says he's there because he's hungry and grabs Kelso's tie to yank him off the couch. The clip-on tie comes off in Hyde's hand. Red asks Fez and Nina if, since they work at the DMV, they can fix a parking ticket for him. Nina declines, and Fez begs her to reconsider. They're Red's guests. Not a chance, says Nina. It's against the law. Red exits to watch television and Hyde, Eric, Fez and Kelso are right behind him. The women are upset and agree that they're always the ones who have to do the giving. Jackie protests that she's for herself; it's Steven who should be thinking of others. Donna points out that it didn't help Jackie's case when she ditched Steven and came to the dinner party with Kelso. Later, in the Forman basement, the guys talk about their situation. Red tells Eric that at least Hyde's trying to take a stand, while Eric gave in to Donna immediately. Fez points out that Red came to the party too. Red admits that after many years of marriage, when Kitty tells him to do something he just does it. A fantasy sequence follows, "Battle of the Gender Stars," in which Jamie Farr plays on the girls' team, because he wears a dress on "Mash." Later that night, Fez asks Nina if she'll be his girl if he promises to do everything she asks him. Nina can't say no. Jackie promises Hyde that in the future she'll ask nicely when she wants him to do something. And Donna confesses that they went to the arboretum only because she thought Eric wanted to go.
