Red's still angry with Eric about his engagement, and Kitty's sick of their constant bickering, so she signs them up for the father/son competition at the Point Place Paul Bunyan Pioneer Days Jamboree. Maybe this will make them bond, since they refuse to bond on their own. Bob will be manning the cider booth, and Joanne has been chosen as emcee. Red and Eric get in line behind Charlie and Mitch, another father and son team and a couple of enthusiastic, phony jerks. They're two-time champs, and they aren't letting anyone forget it. Kelso, Hyde, Jackie and Fez go to the Fotohut looking for Leo and discover that it has been entirely cleaned out. Hyde can't believe that Leo would leave town without saying goodbye. In the wood chopping competition, Eric's ax gets stuck, and Red's seething. Amazed that they're fighting already, Kitty starts hitting the hard cider at Bob's booth. Charlie and Mitch are crowing because they've won the first round of the competition. But in the second round, the cow-milking contest, Eric exhibits amazing skills and Team Forman wins. At that point, Charlie's and Mitch's cheery façade begins to slip a bit. The kids break into Leo's apartment and encounter Eli, Leo's cousin, who informs them that Leo has left town. Leo left a note for someone named
"Heidy," Eli tells them. That would be Hyde, and he knew Leo would never leave without a word. Leo also left him some "film." Hyde accepts the large panavision film canister, and Kelso observes that they're hooked up until 1985. Back at Pioneer Days, Kitty, thoroughly soused, is telling Donna that she really wants her to marry Eric. Their wedding can have a pioneer theme with lots of hard cider. It's time for final event, "The Puzzle of Pioneer Pete." Charlie and Mitch are at each others' throats at this point. Red and Eric finish in second place, and Eric assumes that Red's disappointed in him, but Red says he's proud of them. But about the engagement, Red still says break it off!
