Episode #603 "Magic Bus"

SYNOPSIS:

It's midnight, which officially makes it Eric's eighteenth birthday. Kelso, Hyde and Fez present him with a case of beer. His present from Donna is a new stereo that plays records and eight-tracks-she feels bad about going off to college without him. Fez informs Eric that long-distance relationships don't work, but Eric's convinced that he and Donna won't let a few miles come between them. Actually, Eric can't believe she's leaving. Hasn't she heard of sacrifice? Eric's completely drunk. While he's asleep the guys put a dress on him and sit him at the Forman's kitchen table where Red and Kitty find him the next morning. Kitty reminds Red that as of tonight they have the doctor's okay to resume having sex. Red's not thrilled, and Eric just wants his special birthday breakfast which it appears Kitty forgot to prepare. Eric believes that Kitty will be throwing him a surprise party that night. No party, says Kitty, and sorry about breakfast. Donna comes into her bedroom and finds Jackie and Hyde making out on her bed. She sprays water on them as if they were a couple of cats. Jackie reminds her she's leaving that night and it won't be her bed anymore. Hyde and Jackie leave as Eric comes in. He loves it that she's taking the midnight bus just so she can be around for his birthday. She thinks he's taking her leaving pretty well until he sees that she's packing "their" toaster and goes ballistic. Later, Hyde's watching TV when Eric enters. He tells Hyde he couldn't help himself-he ruined it with Donna. He threw a toaster! If Eric wants to be cool like Bogey in Casablanca, he'll have to let Donna go. A black and white fantasy sequence follows with Eric as Bogey and Fez as the piano player. Later that day Kitty calls Eric at the exact time of his birth, as she does every year, but she has to hang up abruptly because of an emergency at the hospital. In the Forman basement, Jackie tells Fez and Kelso that she can't wait to get Donna's clothes out of their closet. Kelso bought Eric a birthday cake, but it's almost gone before Eric even gets to see it. That evening everyone's in the Forman living room. Eric apologizes to Donna. It's her last day here, and he wants to spend his birthday with her. Donna forgives him. She's sad too. Eric thinks it's about time for his surprise party to start. There's no party, says Kelso. Then why, asks Eric, is everyone here? Kitty wants to know that too. It's time for her and Red to have sex. In the basement, Eric tells the gang that he can't believe there's no party for his eighteenth birthday. Hyde reminds Eric that he hates it when Kitty does stuff for his birthday. Hyde presents Eric with a silver stereo knob, and Kelso gives him a Led Zeppelin eight-track, both of which already belong to him. His buddies are there for him, they assure Eric. Later that night, still in the basement, they guys bring out another case of beer. Eric says he's not going to screw up again. He has to let Donna go-like Bogey in Casablanca. Donna discovers that Jackie has already redecorated her bedroom. Donna shoos Jackie out. She wants to be alone with Eric. She hands him a cupcake with a lit candle in it. They move in for a kiss when Bob enters. He smells cupcakes!
