Episode #805 “Misfire"

After a cliffhanger opening at Red and Kitty's 25th Anniversary party with Kelso asking Jackie to marry him, we flash back two days earlier. Kitty hides her plans for the party from Red - he hates parties. Kelso, seeing how happy Red and Kitty are, as well as Hyde and his wife Samantha, realizes his best times were when he was with Jackie and tells Fez and Hyde he wants to marry Jackie. Fez spills Kelso's secret to Jackie and Donna; Jackie is excited, even though Donna thinks it's a terrible idea. Jackie's excitement builds, and she's really looking forward to Kelso asking her, but unbeknownst to anyone, Kelso gets a job as a security guard at the Playboy club in Chicago. Kelso's relieved he didn't ask Jackie to marry him yet, but Fez informs Kelso that the beans have been spilled. Kelso's stuck - he knows he wants to marry Jackie someday, but not now. But realizing that angering Jackie now might mess up any chances for them in the future, he realizes he needs to go through with it and ask her. Meanwhile, Donna talks to Jackie, explaining that life with Kelso would be a crazy, juvenile mess. Kitty tells Red about the party, but Red had a surprise of his own - he's taking Kitty to the motel where they consummated their marriage. They arrive late to their own party (fresh from the motel), and Kelso proposes to Jackie. Jackie says "no", and Kelso is thrilled. Afterwards, Kelso says goodbye to the gang with one last circle in the basement before leaving for Chicago.

Meanwhile, Donna has been waiting for Eric to call her from Africa, but he doesn't call (although he does call Kitty). Eric also calls during the party to wish his parents a happy anniversary, but doesn't spend more than a few seconds on the phone saying hi to Donna. Randy tries to comfort Donna in the kitchen
