After a lunch date with Kitty, Fez meets Marsha Sullivan, Kitty's old nemesis (who is, of course, Kitty's age). The two quickly start dating, and the gang gives Fez a hard time for being with a woman so much older than him. Kitty gossips with Marsha, who tells her that she's dating a younger man, but doesn't say who. At a birthday party for Donna at the Forman's house, Fez and Kitty have fun bantering together until Marsha shows up and Kitty discovers the two are an item. Kitty lashes out at Marsha and tells Fez he can't date her. Fez tells Kitty, "You can't tell me what to do, you're not my mother," and Kitty storms out upset. Drunk, Kitty complains about Fez to Donna and Jackie, who then tell Fez that he hurt her because she thinks of him as a son. Fez remembers great times they've had together and everything she's done for him, then goes to apologize to her. Kitty explains that she just doesn't want to know the details of his life, because "not telling each other what we don't want to hear is what being a family is all about," and they hug.
For Donna's birthday, Randy suggests they all go in a present. Hyde says he'll take care of it, and gets a t-shirt that reads: "My parents went to Lake Michigan and all I got was this lousy T-shirt." The gang thinks it's a bad gift, but realize they don't know what Jackie likes. So, looking through her room, Jackie finds Donna's diary in which she says Randy is "cute." Hyde's gift goes over well (she collects those shirts). Randy gets her tickets to a Journey concert. Donna hates Journey, but feigns being excited. Later, Jackie confronts Donna who admits she likes Randy.
